  • Sony
  • A condition where a person’s eyes get pink, itchy, watery, and sometimes a burning sensation is felt. This is called pink eyes and can be caused due to several reasons. It could be a viral infection, a fungal infection, or a virus and there are high chances that it might just be an allergy. Thank God it isn’t a permanent condition, it just takes 2 to 3 weeks of recovery.

According to the best eye doctor in Karachi, some people get really worried very easily and they rush to the doctor as if a big problem has occurred. But what if I tell you that this can be treated easily at home. In some cases where there is white discharge or a yellow color fluid coming out of the eyes, you should seek a doctor’s advice.

There basically are two types: bacterial and viral. Let’s see the difference first.

    • Viral Pink Eye:  It is a common virus and has no backing of how it is caused. You just have to leave it to let it get cured.

    Remedies for Pink Eye

To get relief from inflammation, itchiness, and discomfort you can use these remedies to provide yourself with the needed assistance.

    Cool Compress

The inflammation and the swelling that occurs as a result of pink eyes are very bothersome and irritating. This can get painful at times. You can use a damp and cool compress to reduce swelling and discomfort. The right way to use compress is to:

    • Soak a piece of cloth with water. Take a hand towel if you want and dip it in cold or warm water.
    • You should press the cloth and take the excess water out.
    • Out the damp cloth on your eye and leave it there for some time.
    • You can now remove it and wash your hands immediately afterward.

To stop the infection from spreading further, you need to be careful while using the damp cloth. Make sure to wash it using warm water and don’t mix it with the other laundry. This way you can reduce the signs of reinfection.

    Moist Cloth Clean

If you have been infected with the bacterial pink eye you might see thick mucus-like pus coming out of your eye. It sometimes leaks and sometimes stays in the eys and irritates.

A lot of people find it very challenging to open their eyes after they have been drying the pus in their infected eyes. A thick layer is formed in the eye when the pus dries out. Specifically, when it’s morning time when the pus has sat down the whole night it starts to get hardened.

For that, you need a warm cloth that is moist enough. You need to use it on your eye and remove the pus around the eyes and your lashes.

    Eye Drops

It is very important to use eye drops to keep your eyes moist enough. This infection is capable of making your eyes drier than usual. So, keep lubricating the eyes or you can use ‘natural tears’ which can be bought from any of the medical stores near you.

All types of eye infections and any type of pinkeye. They help a lot in relieving all the symptoms including pain, annoyances, and discharge.

    Medication

Similar to nutrition and chronic pain, medication, and eyes also have a close enough connection.

A number of over-the-counter medications are available in the market that can help you deal with the symptoms of pink eye. There are a few good NSAIDs including ibuprofen at the top which work great against pinkeye pain and discomfort.

    You can go for anti-allergy medication too which include;

    • Eye drops that cure infection and inflammation
    • Mast cell stabilizers
    • Tablets that are Antihistamines

    Final Thought

However pink eye gets better on its own but sometimes the cases that get severe are best treated when shown to a doctor. People who have a history of eye issues in the family should see a doctor as soon as possible when they feel like getting pink eye.
