Pedro de la Rosa is back! The former Formula 1 driver completed 104 Grands Prix for Arrows, Jaguar, McLaren, BMW Sauber, and HRT and now has a new role at Sebastian Vettel’s still team Aston Martin. Watch the livescores of Formula 1, and find out what results will bring this return! As an ambassador, the 51-year-old will take on PR, marketing, and general consulting duties for the Formula One team, among other things. He will also be responsible for the team’s junior program.

Pedro de la Rosa: Returning to His First Formula One team

The Jordan Formula 1 team was de la Rosa’s start in the premier class. While in the following years he worked for the McLaren and Ferrari teams, among others, he now came to the decision to return to the former Jordan team.

“I know the team and its roots,” said the Spaniard. De la Rosa visited the team at Silverstone back in July 2022. “I was shocked by the changes.” The former driver subsequently had plenty of reasons to join the team. In particular, the team’s ambitions led him to want to take on a role in the team. “Maybe it was also the fact that I visited my old team,” de la Rosa says. “There is no better feeling than that the people who know you best want you back in the team.”

Aston Martin: Role in the Team

In his role as ambassador, the Spaniard will not only support the communications and marketing team but he will also be involved in the Aston Martin team’s junior program. Here, among other things, he will help select talent so that they can then be trained as juniors. “Giving young drivers a chance is the most rewarding part of this role,” de la Rosa said. However, there is also a difference from his past roles with the other teams. “I won’t be involved in any technical decisions,” the 51-year-old tells us.

    Reunion with Fernando Alonso

The driver also maintains a good relationship with his compatriot Fernando Alonso. “I worked with Fernando Alonso during my time at McLaren and Ferrari, so I already know some faces in the team,” says de la Rosa. The Spaniard already drove alongside the current Alpine driver in 2006. “I’m looking forward to working with Fernando again.”
