Cost of Managed IT Service

The cost of outsourcing your company’s IT needs is highly variable. Each company has its own unique set of technologies, some of which are simple and extremely complex. Technology that is more difficult to maintain costs more money. You can also select the level of management you want. Basic to comprehensive managed IT services are available, each with a different price tag.

The most difficult part of estimating the cost of managed IT services, which we’re trying to do here, is that “IT” encompasses so many different services. Your company’s IT requirements may be vastly different from another company’s. That being said, it’s possible to get a better sense of your company’s technology service needs by studying the fundamentals of managed IT services.

First, let’s begin by defining what a “managed IT service” is all about. Managed IT, at its core, means that an outside company is taking care of your IT needs, whatever they may be. A group of IT professionals will take care of all or part of your IT requirements for a fee. To keep up with the ever-expanding managed IT service needs of a company, one must be able to manage anywhere from ten to one thousand different services.

IT Management Can Be Divided into Two Major Types.

There are two types of managed IT services: fully and partially managed.

Partially Managed

Information technology (IT) management may fall to a single person or a team of people in some companies. In some cases, you may need a dedicated managed IT service team like VInet Newcastle to handle all of your in-house IT needs.

In some cases, even if you don’t need an in-house IT person or team, you may simply prefer the convenience of having someone or a team there, in person, every day to deal with certain IT issues and concerns.

A managed IT service provider can offer partially managed IT services for businesses with in-house IT staff. For example, you can decide what and when they manage. Services such as security and backup administration, which may be too complex or time-consuming for an in-house IT team to handle, can be handled by a partial management model.

Full-Service

For many small and medium-sized businesses, outsourcing all aspects of their IT management is the most cost-effective and time-effective solution. A managed IT service provider can provide you with expert insight, advice, and the service necessary to keep your company’s technology running smoothly 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

It’s important to find a managed IT service provider that can work with you and other leaders in your company to deliver industry-leading services.

Managed IT Service Pricing

Managed IT Services can have a wide range of prices. The monthly cost per user ranges from $100 to $250. The size and sophistication of your IT systems and your decision to outsource some or all of your technology management functions all have an impact on your costs.

You can expect to pay between $5,000.00 and $7,000.00 a month for fully managed IT services for a typical 50-person company.

How is It Decided?

Managed Services are typically classified as an operational expense rather than a capital expenditure on a subscription basis. This is the best option for many businesses because it provides a predictable managed IT service budget without the risk of unexpected expenses and requires little up-front capital investment.

If you use a lot of services and have a lot of users, the cost of your subscription will vary. The price rises directly to the number of customers, support staff, and end-users. On the other hand, Managed Services is a good option because you don’t have to worry about overspending or paying for services you don’t use.

For Managed Services, there are three basic pricing models to choose from. They are:

  • Per-user
  • Per-device
  • Tiered

As the name implies, per device means that you are charged for each supported device. Because it’s so simple, many managed service providers (MSPs) employ a per-device billing model.

As a result, both the provider and the customer benefit from it. Additionally, it’s adaptable and simple to change as new devices are added or removed.

Like the per-device model, the per-user cost model bills at the end of each month for a flat fee based on the number of users. Individuals may use a smartphone and laptop and an office PC at the same time, so this covers all of their technology needs.

Tiered pricing offers a variety of bundled packages, with the price increasing as the level of service provided increases.

Concluding Note

A Managed IT Service provider with well-trained and well-equipped technicians, mature, enhanced workflows; and constantly vetted tools understand how to approach specific processes like troubleshooting and other necessary actions, especially when you choose the right pricing plan.

A Managed IT Service Provider should be able to provide you with a quote based on the services you receive and the number of users you have, regardless of the contract length.
