What are the Aspects of Promotion for the Post of UDC in ESIC?

ESIC or Employees’ State Insurance Corporation has released a notification to recruit the candidates for UDC (Upper Divisional Clerk)’s. To know about the various aspects of promotions associated with the job profile every candidate needs to know about the salary, responsibilities of the job, and career growth opportunities. The selected candidates will be serving all around the country. However, candidates will have to go through a three-tier selection process to be placed depending on the number of vacancies in every state. Responsibilities as ESIC UDC

Depending upon the ESIC UDC division for which a candidate is selected, the job responsibilities will change and be determined. Here is a brief of the duties of the officers as per their divisions: 

  1. Officers posted in Regional Office/ Headquarters/ Sub-Regional Office

The following are the major responsibilities of the officers posted in the Headquarters / Regional Offices / Sub-Regional Offices: 

  • The officer needs to overlook all work related to the accounts department
  • Maintenance of files is the responsibility of the officer
  • The officer needs to draft letters as required
  • The officer is tasked with the responsibility of processing online data and is an essential part of his/her duty
  1. Non-cashier Officers posted in Branch Offices

The major responsibilities of a non-cashier officer working in any branch office are as follows: 

  • It is the responsibility of the officer to maintain all online payment dockets and compile reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • The officer needs to draft letters as needed
  • The maintenance of reports come under the officer’s responsibilities
  • The officer needs to upload certificates

3. Officers selected for the post of Cashier in any Branch Office

Candidates selected for the post of cashier and posted in any one of the branch offices have the following responsibilities: 

  • One of the main responsibilities for the officer will be to maintain a cash book
  • All work-related to bank needs to be monitored and supervised by the officer
  • Issuing cheques fall under the list of responsibilities

ESIC UDC 2022 Promotion and Career Growth

Once you are selected for one of the posts of ESIC UDC, you will receive a promotion based on seniority. This means, as you serve for more years, you will be receiving a promotion. An officer who has been in any department for continuous 3 years becomes eligible for the promotion. Now, once the person has been in the Assistant position for 3 years, he/she will receive an increment of Rs.4,600 in the grade pay. Promotion in UDC offers the following posts: 

  • Assistant
  • Branch Manager
  • Assistant Director
  • Deputy Director
  • Senior Director
  • Joint Director
  • Regional Director, and so on.

Once a candidate is selected, he/she will need to serve as a probationary officer for a duration of 2 years. After that, the candidate becomes eligible to get promoted. For officers, once they have been in any department for 3 years, they will be considered eligible to be promoted to the post of Assistant. As a career option, ESIC is a wonderful opportunity for anyone who wishes to stay in the insurance sector and build a stable career in it. 

ESIC UDC Exam Pattern 2022

Phase 1 – Prelims Exam

  • This prelims phase is qualifying in nature, but its marks are not included in the final ESIC UDC selection.
  • There will be 100 nos multiple choice questions of 2 marks each.
  • 0.25 mark is a negative mark for each wrong answer
  • The total time duration of the prelims exam is 1 hour.
  • There are four sections in this exam-General intelligence and reasoning (50 marks), English comprehension (50 marks), Quantitative aptitude (50 marks), and General awareness (50 marks).

Phase2 – Mains exam

Basically, marks of this examination are included in the final selection.

  • There will be 200 objective questions of 1 mark each.
  • 0.25 mark is the negative rating for each wrong answer
  • The time duration of the examination is 2 hours.
  • There are four sections in this exam-General intelligence and reasoning (50 marks), Quantitative aptitude (50 marks), General awareness (50 marks), and English comprehension (50 marks).

Phase 3 – Computer skill test

Marks of this exam are not included in the final merit list.

  • There will be no negative marking in this exam.
  • The time duration of the examination is 30 minutes.
  • There are three sections in this exam – Preparation of 02 PowerPoint slides (10 marks), Preparation of table on MS excel with the use of formulae (20 marks), Typing matter on MS word with formatting (20 marks).
